Torbjørnsbu iron mines, in close proximity to 'Bomuldsfabriken Kunsthall' are a cultural heritage related to the historically important Norwegian iron production. The industrial history has both social and economic significance for the city of Arendal and the Aust-Agder region. The elevated footpath from the Kunsthall facilitates access to the cultural-historical landscape and the in-situ artworks give a new awareness of the place.
The artwork is created of corten- and galvanized steel, as a manifestation of the iron ore that was extracted from the mines. The material will age and weather with time to resonate with the cultural history narrative and the landscape's colour palette with natural elements of iron ore in the indigenous rock.
